One Little Word for 2012 : Pause :

My one little word for 2012 is Pause.

Nothing fancy. But very reflective.

This word stems from a personal outcome I had in 2011.

My grandmother passed away just right

before Thanksgiving 2011.

She was living in Thailand at the time

and passed away of a stroke.

It was sudden.

We had no idea it was her that would pass away because right

before then, my grandfather was taken to the hospital with

several complications. We thought he wasn't going to make it,

but he did.

And then it hit us again...grandma passed away.

No final goodbyes.

And I was so busy with the kids and the holidays coming up,

writing, and business...[Someone hit that Pause button!]

And I didn't.

I didn't pause to say a quick hello. Technology is so

advanced and skyping is easy when a loved one is on the other

side of the world. But we didn't get a chance. I know she

kept track of my happenings on Facebook. She was on there and

commented on my new personal profile picture. She liked it.

This year I'm going to pause and slow down my life.

Whether it's to better simplify things in my home,

business, and the friends and family I associate with.

I always feel rushed to do things and to come up

with business ideas, that I eventually get so caught

up with the fast pace of life. 

I'm not enjoying the moments that really matter.

So, this year I'm going to remind myself

to hit that 'Pause' button and make family matter.

You never know when it may be

your last or someone you love. 

Say thank you or I love you.

: Pause : 

I'm sure a lot of you have come up with

your own word this year too.

I'm planning on taking Ali's One Word class.

I'm looking forward to paving a better path for myself.

To Pause and enjoy this journey we call life.

No regrets.

Well, I did it. I posted My last Daily Gem

for 2011 yesterday.

I still can't believe it.

Sharing an inspirational quote

EVERY single day of 2011.

That's 365 days my friend!

Now that we are in the first day of 2012...

I kind of feel lost without My Daily Gems.

Do you know what I mean? I looked forward to them every day.

Now what to do?

Well, I'm going to go forward with no fear for 2012.

I know 2011 was such a tough year. I know many who

are looking ahead to what this New Year has in store.

Right now I'm going to dream, plan, and create

for 2012. I don't know what it will entail.

I wish I could see into the future. It can be scary.

So, pause and enjoy the first day of January;

the first day in 2012. 

We are headed out to church later today and I can

already feel inspired. What are your plans for today?

Journaling

I love taking some of my favorite quotes and using them in

mixed media/scrapbooking projects.

Here's just a sample using my Canvas Scrapbook Journal. 

I'm using this journal as a Daily Inspirational book.

You know how some like to have inspirational boards,

I like inspirational visual books.

Especially one that is portable and I can carry

around with me. *happy smile*

Tip: Put your favorite inspirational quotes in a book like this and carry with you for those down times. It may lift your spirits up.

desk as I type this! I've also been using these prototypes to make sure I'm happy with what I'm going to be offering you.

I think you will absolutely love them! I made sure that I was happy with the materials I'm using. Which explains why it has taken so long. And for good reason!

Besides making it look good, I really wanted to create something that would protect your hard-earned tech gadget. I mean...

Let's face it...these gadgets are not inexpensive. But you really want to look stylish at the same time don't you?

The lining I chose is a soft raised minkie fabric.

I am also using soft foam batting in between so that there 

is extra protection for your gadget. There is also a zippered

closure for this as well, and you'll be glad to know

your Ipad/Kindle won't slip out.

Travel Journal

This week I completed a travel journal album using a complete

digital scrapbooking kit. It was a lot of fun using papers

that I could easily print out from my home printer.

A lot different than using store

bought scrapbook products, but not really. Two very good

points for using digital scrapbooking kits for mini albums:

1) I didn't have to wait for shipping. 

2) I could easily change up things in my Adobe Photoshop editor. Meaning resizing, reshaping, adding to...lots of varying creative degrees.

The kit I used is Rhonna Farrer's Travel Tool Kit .

Purchased at Two Peas in a Bucket as a digital download.

LOVE this! Talk about immediate scrapbook access.

Once I finished my purchase, I opened up the files and

there it was...ready for me to create with!

And I got a chance to make a short visual video of my

project. Whoohoo!

Daily Junque Book Project

I might be behind with this, but I'm finally putting

together one of these Daily Junque Book.

Daily Junque paper collection from House of Three.

The black binder is a 6x9 version, but I'm thinking of

creating one of my fabric binder sleeves for the cover.  

As always, my mind is moving in

different directions with different projects.

Now it's time to get back to work, take the 

kids to the mall, and do some back-to-school shopping!

Inspired by the color: Mint

Have you seen this color?

I love it.

My nails are currently painted with this color too.

And this little gem! 

EOS hand lotion.

 

They designed the cutest hand lotion

bottle. I love the color and modern design.

Fits nicely in my handbag too.

The lotion smells so wonderful and reminds me of 

Elizabeth Arden's Red Door perfume collection Revealed.

And it's not greasy either. My

husband actually prefers holding a hand that doesn't feel

like I buttered it with bacon fat. 

And speaking of husband. He's been trying to encourage all of

us to drink plenty of water in this Florida humidity.

I'm using this bottle for all my drinks.

Found it at Target and it's one of the best inventions ever.

No water sweat around the cup and it's a generous size too!

And the lovely color...fits my mood theme of Mint doesn't it?

And ...

I've been scrapbooking more and creating mini albums.

Just a few of my favorite products right now:

I love their raised texture papers. You can sand it, tear it,

and I'm going to use some paint over a few areas.

And then there's Hambly Screen Prints.

Overlay used with Basic Gray paper.

Can't wait to create with them in my craft studio!
